5 Favorite Markets to Visit Near Denver

Though the winter season generates a lot of excitement in Denver, the summer months bring forth plenty of outdoor arts and cultural events for visitors and residents to enjoy. Whether you’re looking to discover new artists or find the best produce for dinner, the Mile High City has some great markets to choose from. Here are some of the best flea, art, and farmers markets near Denver to check out over the next few months:

 

A Paris Street Market

Where: Aspen Grove: 7301 South Santa Fe Drive, Littleton, CO

When: First Saturday of every month, May 5 – October 6, 2018, 8AM – 2PM

Cost: Free entry

This longstanding market began in 2001 and has been gaining loyal fans ever since. Located in Aspen Grove in Littleton, just a short drive from downtown Denver, this market brings a host of vendors with vintage, antique, and artisan treasures to explore. With a great community feel, this open-air market is the perfect place to spend a Saturday. There’s plenty of free parking and nearby eateries, so you can easily make a day of it.

 

Mile High Flea Market

Where: 7007 East 88th Ave., Henderson, CO

When: Open every Friday – Sunday 7AM – 5PM

Cost: Admission is $2 to $3, $5 for a weekend pass, $89 for an annual buyer’s pass;  Children under 12 are free; Free Fridays: August 3 and August 10

A short drive north of downtown Denver will get you to the Mile High Flea Market in Henderson, one of the area’s largest year-round flea markets. Picture a farmers market mixed with a garage sale with a side of amusement-park rides. This market hosts featured vendors and live music on most weekends throughout the summer. There’s also plenty of delicious food to enjoy while you browse second-hand goods, collectables, and seasonal produce. They’re open Friday through Sunday from 7AM – 5PM with special weekend events, including their Free Fridays, on August 3 and 10th. On August 10th all rides are free, so plan to bring the whole family on this kid-friendly day.

 

Denver Bazaar

Where: Stanley Marketplace: 2501 Dallas St., Aurora, CO

When: First Thursday August 2 – December 6, 2018, 5 – 10PM

Cost: Free entry

Less than a half hour east of downtown is a pop-up market in the Stanley Marketplace in Aurora. This monthly bazaar takes place on the first Thursday of the month from 5-10PM. It’s described as one of the most hip craft fairs around, with over 45 local makers and vendors. Along with interesting goods to explore, they also have a local DJ spinning funk, soul, and oldies during the event. Admission is free, and they also offer Shop & Sip tickets which give you a discount on drink samplings and at some of the Stanley Marketplace retailers.

 

Affordable Arts Festival

Where: 5900 Santa Fe Dr., Littleton, CO

When: August 26, 2018, 9AM – 3PM

Cost: $10 online or at the gate

Another market in Littleton, CO, the Affordable Arts Festival, is based on the concept of making art accessible to all. Each participating artist fills their booth with pieces under $100 so visitors can come not only to view their work, but maybe to take a few things home as well. Though there is a small cover charge, the budget-friendly works within make it worth the small $10 fee. The vendors are both local and national, some having traveled specifically for this once-a-year event. It’s ranked as one of the top 20 art festivals in the nation, with art-lovers flocking to score deals on handmade creations.

 

Jefferson Park Farm & Flea

Where: 2500 Federal Boulevard, Denver, CO

When: Saturday, September 15, 2018 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Cost: Free entry

For city-dwellers interested in urban homesteading, this particular market is not to be missed. With over 70 vendors selling handmade and vintage items, this flea and farmers market also has a focus on urban-homesteading education. They’ve even had live exhibits with chickens and baby goats in the past. There have been two summer markets so far, on May 19 and July 21, and they’ll conclude the season with a final market in mid-September. Don’t miss the last chance of the year to visit this great market. Come expecting live music, handcrafted goods, fresh produce, food trucks, and an all-around entertaining and informative urban market.
