Foreclosure Filings Down For 12th Straight Month

RealtyTrac’s U.S. Foreclosure Market Report for the third quarter shows Foreclosure filings were reported on 214,855 properties in September, which is a 6 percent drop from August and the twelfth straight month Foreclosure activity was down on a year-over-year basis. Filings were down 38 percent from September 2010. Foreclosure activity rose 1 percent during the third quarter but was still down 34 percent from the year before. James Saccacio, chief executive officer of RealtyTrac, said Foreclosure activity has been mired down since last October and data from September and the third quarter show it is still well below levels from a year ago, though there is some evidence that it will soon begin to slowly ramp back up.
