As the weather heats up in Denver, people flock to restaurants with the best patios, rooftops, and sidewalk tables to dine. Whether in the warmer summer months or balmy autumn and spring in the Mile High, there are plenty of great spots to grab a bite and enjoy the fresh air. Some even come complete with a view! Here are 5 of the best outdoor dining options in Denver to try this summer:

The Populist

If you’re looking to dine in an intimate outdoor setting, The Populist should be your next stop. With a patio of rustic wooden community tables, this spot encourages sharing space and the dining experience with your neighbors. Their cozy outdoor seating is a beautiful place to dine day or night, with lush greenery and strings of warm lights. The owners’, Jonathan Power, Noah Price, and Cliff White, have created a community vibe that encourages sharing your environment and your food. The menu consists of New American shareable plates and other small dishes, including favorites like their Bacon and Egg, served with Semolina Toast and Lardo Iberico. With a unique wine and cocktail list featuring both classic and more contemporary choices, there’s something for every taste and preference. They’re open Tuesdays through Saturdays from 5:00-10:00PM.

Avanti Food and Beverage

Avanti is a great spot to bring a group of friends with varying tastes. This unique place operates like a food hall, with seven different restaurant options to choose from. Each culinary destination is made from modified shipping containers, and you can rest assured that there will be something to please everyone in your party. From Thai Tacos from BorraCho Tacos to poke bowls from QuickFish, the eclectic mix of options is expansive. The highlight here is their rooftop deck, strung with lights and offering a spectacular view of the Denver skyline and the Rockies. They have other open areas to dine as well, like their bleacher seats where you can take in the sights and sounds of the city below.

Vital Root

With visitors of all food preferences, from vegans to meat-eaters, this place has something to please almost everyone. This “slow food” restaurant is an Edible Beats concept, supporting more than 55 growers, farmers, and other food artisans, with half of their ingredients local to Colorado. They’re open every day except Monday, with Happy Hour specials from 3:00-6:00PM.

LOW Country Kitchen

This is where many Denverites go for homemade authentic Southern cooking. Its owners are from the South, and they decided to bring the best fare up to their LOW restaurants, one in Steamboat Springs and, more recently, one in Denver. Along with the classic buttermilk-fried chicken and jambalaya, this spot has two breezy patios to enjoy. WIth a charming ground-level patio as well as a popular roof deck with beautiful views, this restaurant gets quite busy for brunch and happy hour. On the elevated roof terrace, you’ll find classic wicker lounge furniture and large yellow umbrellas that contribute to the Southern feel. They also have a small rooftop bar which can be a good option if you haven’t reserved your spot ahead of time.

El Five

With a patio on the fifth floor, El Five has one of the most spectacular views in Denver. Sitting high atop the city, patrons can get an unobstructed view of the skyline and the expansive highlands. Of course, sunset is a popular time to visit this open-air patio, so make sure you set up a reservation ahead of time if you’re aiming to enjoy the sunset. The restaurant, another Edible Beats concept, is located in LoHi, with its sister restaurant, Linger, adjacent to it. You can expect food served tapas style and Mediterranean-inspired flavors. They also have an array of handcrafted cocktails to accompany your small plates. You can visit for dinner any night of the week between 5:00-10:30PM.

Denver is a city brimming with passionate foodies and plenty of new culinary destinations to explore. In the midst of peak patio season, it’s not difficult to find the perfect spot to dine while feasting your eyes on some great scenery.
