The summer isn’t over yet, and as the season continues, there are many happenings for Denverites and visitors to enjoy in and around the city. Whether you’re looking for outdoor music, great food, or craft brews, there’s a multitude of events to check out this month:

 

Colorado Rockies vs. Pittsburgh Pirates

When: August 6 – 8; Monday & Tuesday: 6:40PM, Wednesday: 1:10PM

Where: Coors Field – Home of the Colorado Rockies

A great summer activity that the whole family can enjoy is catching a Colorado Rockies home game. This month, they play the Pittsburgh Pirates on the 6th, 7th, and 8th, giving you a few options of when to go. Attending an exciting major league baseball game in Coors Field is a quintessential Denver summer activity. You’ll find enthusiastic fans and all of the classic ballgame snacks. Whether you’re a superfan, or this is your first visit to Coors Field, get to one of these games for some sports-centric fun.

 

Film on the Rocks: The Goonies & Black Panther

When: The Goonies: Tuesday, August 7; Black Panther: Monday, August 13; 7:00PM

Where: Red Rocks Amphitheatre, Morrison, CO

The summer isn’t complete without a trip or two to Red Rocks, and enjoying an evening film there is the perfect way to visit. Their 2018 Film On The Rocks Program will be hosting two more movies this month, where you can watch a great film with a beautiful backdrop. They’ll be showing The Goonies, one of the most popular and beloved adventure stories, on Tuesday, August 7th; and on Monday, August 13th, you can catch Black Panther, the entertaining and empowering Marvel film that was wildly successful earlier this year. Each outdoor film starts after dusk, but make sure you arrive at 7:00PM to catch the band playing prior to the movie.

 

Save the Ales

When: Thursday, August 9, 6:00 – 10:00PM

Where: Mile High Station, 2027 Old West Colfax Ave.

The second weekend of the month there’s an event that both environmentalists and beer-lovers will enjoy. The Save the Ales festival takes place on the evening of Thursday, August 9th at Mile High Station. This eco-friendly festival is hosted by Conservation Colorado, an organization dedicated to protecting the environment and the quality of life of its inhabitants. This is one of the more reasonably priced beer festivals around, and the proceeds will help protect, conserve, and ensure clean water for Coloradans. Over 40 Colorado companies will be there with local fare, cider, sodas and of course, beer.

 

Union Station Busker Festival 2018

When: Friday, August 10 – 12

Where: Denver Union Station

Mid-month, you can catch the Union Station Busker Festival which is sure to entertain. In Union Station’s public plaza, you’ll find buskers from all over the nation continuing the tradition of live street art and performance. With street musicians, fire performers, face painters, hula-hoopers, jugglers, and more, adults and kids of all ages can enjoy this unique event.

 

Denver Sloan’s Lake Art & Music Festival 2018

When: August 11-12; Saturday: 10AM – 7PM; Sunday: 10AM – 4PM

Where: Sloan’s Lake Park

On August 11-12th in Sloan’s Lake Park, you can visit the Sloan’s Lake Art & Music Festival. A vast collection of juried fine art will be on display and for sale throughout the weekend. From handmade jewelry and paintings to ceramics and wearable art, there’s sure to be something for everyone. You’ll also find live music all weekend, including their featured Hazel Miller Small Band. This is a kid and dog-friendly event with an all-ages Creation Station, face painting, and more. There will also be some great food vendors available so you can grab a bite while you enjoy the art and music.

 

Polish Food Festival

When: Saturday, August 25: 12 – 9PM; Sunday, August 26: 12 – 7PM

Where: 517 E 46th Avenue, Denver; Saint Joseph Polish Roman Catholic Parish

The summer isn’t complete without a food festival, and the Polish Food Festival is sure to please. This free festival, held on Saturday and Sunday, Aug 25-26th, will feature Polish folk singers and dancers, a pierogi-eating contest, live music, and, of course, plenty of authentic Polish food, pastry, and drink to enjoy. They’ll also have a children’s playground for kids. This is a great cultural event to end the summer, whether you go with a friend or the whole family.

 

Denver is a city full of amazing events. No matter what kind of activities you enjoy, it’s not hard to find a gathering that feels like it’s just for you. This August boasts some unique and entertaining events so, mark your calendar and enjoy all that Denver has to offer.
