Atomic absorption spectroscopy (AAS):

AAS is a spectroanalytical procedure for the quantitative determination of elements based on absorption of light by free metallic ions. The technique makes use of the atomic absorption spectrum of a sample in order to assess the concentration of specific analytes within it. The lamps available for element analysis are Ca, Mg, Cu, Cr, Co, Fe,Na. K,Mn, Ni, Pb, Zn.

The AAS instrument can be used for quantitative and qualitative analysis of metals in different fields:
