Dr. Rajiv Borah

I have been associated with materials science research since my M.Sc. days. Since then, I have been working on developing various functional materials for possible applications in range of biomedical applications such as biosensors, tissue engineering and wound healing. My primary research interests include Material Science, Biomaterials, Neural Tissue Engineering and Nanotechnology.

Currently, I have been working primarily in Inspire Faculty research project entitled “Development of Hybrid Electroactive Biomaterials for Peripheral Nerve Regeneration”. The work focuses on various strategies to develop aligned/microchannel structured electroconductive nerve guidance channels mimicking the microstructures of peripheral nerve for electrically stimulated nerve regeneration.

In another aspect, my research also aims to develop implantable/wearable energy harvesting device such as triboelectric nanogenerator (TENG), which can be integrated with electroconductive biomaterial scaffold for faster nerve regeneration in order to replace conventional 220 V power source.

Apart from primary research, I have been working in a collaborative extramural research on Nanobiotechnology entitled “Layered double hydroxides nanostructures for topical delivery of RNAi for sustained protection against plant viruses” with IIT Guwahati. I have been also associated in a SERB funded research project “Development of conducting polymer-graphene-metal oxide ternary nanocomposites for supercapacitor applications” in collaboration with Dakshin Kamrup College, Mirza, Kamrup.

I have been working as a team member in research activity undertaken by Seri-Biotechnology Laboratory to develop a nanoparticle-based immune booster to combat viral infection in Muga silkworm, Antheraea assamensis Helfer.
